Take A Break Building
The “Take a Break” building of the Panchayat is a public utility centre constructed for the convenience of the general public and travelers, especially women, senior citizens, and people traveling with children, to provide rest and access to basic facilities. The centre includes hygienic toilets, drinking water, seating arrangements, rest rooms, and sanitation facilities. The Take a Break building of Mankada Grama Panchayat is located at Palakkathadam on the Tirurkad–Anakkayam State Highway, which is the major state highway passing through the Panchayat. The main objective of the project is to improve the travel experience of the public and enhance health and hygiene standards by ensuring women-friendly and differently-abled-friendly facilities. Take a Break centres function as an important initiative for public utility development and public welfare at the Panchayat level.
Until the establishment of the Take a Break building, Palakkathadam was widely known as an area where waste was carelessly dumped, and such reports frequently appeared in newspapers. However, under the leadership of the 2020–2025 governing committee, the Take a Break building was established along the state highway at Palakkathadam with the aim of transforming the area into a clean and people-friendly public space.
