Day Care Centre for the Elderly / Day Home for Senior Citizens

The Day Care Centre for the Elderly, established as part of the Elderly-Friendly Panchayat initiative, is an important project aimed at ensuring the welfare and social security of senior citizens. The main objective of the project is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for elderly people during the time when family members are away for work. The centre is equipped with facilities suitable for rest, recreation, and healthcare support.

The Day Care Centre provides facilities such as seating arrangements, rest rooms, reading facilities, television, clean drinking water, and hygienic toilets for senior citizens. In addition, activities such as health check-up camps, counselling sessions, yoga training, and cultural programs are also organized. These initiatives help improve the mental well-being and social interaction of elderly people.

Operating under the leadership of the Panchayat, the Day Care Centre has become a community space that helps reduce loneliness and improve the confidence of senior citizens. The project also helps ensure dignity for the elderly in society and enables them to share their knowledge and experiences with the younger generation. Thus, the Day Care Centre plays a vital role in implementing the concept of an elderly-friendly Panchayat in practice.

The Day Care Centre constructed as part of the Elderly-Friendly Panchayat project is situated in Mankada Town. The centre was built using District Panchayat funds on land donated by the son of the late Sarala Teacher in her memory.
